Last Year we brought in the new year. This year there is no theme, just hanging out for one night and bringing in 2009!!!! I hope that everyone can make plans to attend.
Big God is here. This is the camp theme this year "Deeply Rooted". We leave out tomorrow at 1:30 pm from the church. I'm excited about the group going this year, and what God has in store for us. Pray for our trip to and from and that we are tuned into what God has planned for us. I can't wait to wake up some of the guys that have never heard my morning song!!!!! They will love it. They act like they don't but they all do. :) See everyone later, Brent
We got back this afternoon at about 3:00 pm at Concord from the weekend of Little Big God. It was a great weekend!!! There was some speed bumps in the beginning, but everybody did great. I could not have made it this weekend with twenty kids without the awesome adults that went with us. Some of the Big God Staff even talked with me about the group of workers that I brought with the kids this year. Thanks again to everybody that went and worked so hard.
As always there is awesome stuff that God does through kids at camp. Our group of kids did awesome and we only lost a couple of them for just short periods of time. Ha, Ha!!! My favorite part was I got to go outside during our evening service and pray with the kids as they came to our area. We talked about with them that there was nothing to big or to small for God to hear in our prayers. I was blown away, when I sat in the grass in a circle holding hands and they told me what they wanted to pray about. And we stressed that God never over looks their prayers, because they are important to him, no matter how big or small the prayer object. It was a powerful time, as Steven Smith says, "I got the Holy bumps" a time or two. Thanks for allowing your children to attend and be apart of Little Big God this year, Brent.
Tomorrow is the big day for Little Big God. We will be meeting at Concord Baptist at 10:30 am and leaving at 11:00 am. This year we have been blessed with a large group of children and many parnets that are going. As I've been stressing about all the details, I've come to realize how blessed we truly are. One of the groups almost didn't go because they were struggling with adults not committing to go, and we have been just the opposite. I've had to tell a few folks that I had an abundance of help. What a blessing, and what I've realized is, this is where we are as a church right now. There are lots of Pastors and Church's seeking people that are excited and willing to serve any way that they can, and we have it. What a BLESSING!!!!
Pray for camp this weekend, that the Holy Spirit will be with us the whole weekend. We have several kids that are on the edge of accepting Christ as their savior and this could be the event that God uses to do that. Pray for our parents, I've seen these camps be powerful in adults lives as well. Thank you for all your prayers and the love of Jesus that I've seen in you guys. See ya Brent
I think this is a great reminder of how God answers our prayers. However, lots of times I don't see it because I've put expectations on how I think God is going to answer my prayers. I think that we have to remember to slow down and seek the opportunties for the answered prayers that God is going to put in our path.
We had a great youth turn out last night at church, thanks guys you encourage me more than you know. See ya,
Kids and Youth Camp are practically here. I've been working on the details and trying to make sure that we have everything in order. I need for everyone to pray for hearts on the trips and as always pray for safety to and from. Please pray that God's spirit will be with the staff of Big God Ministries as they bring the music, activities and messages. I can't wait to see what God is going to do this year!!!!
The other day Kris was calling me out on not posting anything lately. It is tough when your teenagers in the group point out a short coming!!! As we were talking about him being right, we talked about us both seeing this video. So, here it is Kris. It is a great reminder of "no man knows the day or hour". Are we all ready for it?
What would the world be like if every day we as Christians got up out of bed and lived each day as it was our last for Christ!!! I'm sure there would be things that I would do different if I really believed each day was my last.
How many times do we try to witness to someone by using someone else. God wants to use you and your testimony not the coach on the sidelines. Just be open and real and let God do the rest. See ya, Brent
This week for me has been a very tough one. It has had moments of excitement and sadness all rolled into one. I hate that I didn't get to see you guys on Wednesday night, but I'm sure that Jr. kept all you guys straight. I had to sit down with a man's wife and talk with her about her husband being murdered. It was amazing to see the strength and peace that she had to be able to listen and ask questions about what happened. When we commented on her strength, she quickly gave all the credit for her strength to God. She quoted scripture to me and in a strange sort of way, God used her to give me strength. Because I was tired and worn out, but I thought if she can lean on God for her strength right now then God has enough strength to get me through what needs to be done. I always say a quick prayer before speaking to a family about things like this. However I had been working so hard to try to get done what needed to be done, I had forgotten to stop and ask for help for me through this. One of the things that I found ironic was that I was suppose to be there for this family and I'm sure that we were but God used them for me also. Never underestimate how God can use each and every person for his Glory.
It has been about a week since I've posted anything on the page. As I was looking for something to put on the page the other night and today, I've come up with a conclusion. Everybody is preaching something. God tube is full of testimonies, sermons, songs, skits and even babies doing silly goofy stuff. I just couldn't find anything that jumped out a me, so my question to you guys is; What are you Preaching? Because whether you know it or not, each and every one of you are preaching something. A guy that had some influence on my life when I was younger told me one time, that there is always somebody watching you. Even when we don't realize it, there is somebody in the crowd watching us to see how we are going to act, react, and respond to what is going on.
When I say Preaching, I don't necessarily mean with words. Sometimes we preach with words but words are cheap, most of the time we preach with our actions. We are preaching a message with what is on our MySpace page, what is on our IPOD, and even what we wear and how we wear it. So, once again, WHAT ARE YOU PREACHING???? Believe me guys, there is somebody watching you and your actions may very well influence what they do or don't do. Make sure that you are comfortable with the message that you are Preaching. Because you guys are as much of a Preacher as Pastor Joe is, the only difference is your congregation is the people you are around on a daily basis. You Guys take care and PEACE AND CHICKEN GREASE!!!!!!!
Well we had the Superbowl gathering at the house Sunday evening. We had some of Juilian's famous chicken wings and they were awesome. Here is a shock, Kris had gas to go along with his injuried arm!!!!! The oldest youth still acted the youngest with needing to smear cupcakes in peoples faces; Jake Greene. And the Giants upset New England, all in all it was a good evening. I ate more than I should have, but me and Mike Penley were having a contest on who could be the most miserable by the end of the game by eating cookies and chips all evening. I'm not sure who won that competition. Fun was had by all.
What's up everybody!?!?!?!?! Let's all plan on meeting at my house at 6:00 pm for the Superbowl party this Sunday evening. We'll watch the game, hang out, and I'm working on having a video testimony during half-time. So come to chill out, chow down, and pull for the Patriots to get beat!!!!!! I hope that everybody has a good week, and I'll see ya, Wednesday evening, Sunday evening and hopefully on both. See ya, Brent!!!
This is another example of teamwork. No matter how good you are, working with someone else can make it better. Hey Kris, let me know when you and Nick can do this!!!!!!
I found this today as I was looking for things about Martin Luther King Jr. I thought about the followers of Dr. King, and how passoniate they were to follow his cause. And then I thought about how we could impact our world if we would get this passionate about following our KING!!!!!
This was the logo for the Purity Conference with Big God Ministries. We had a good time with the teenagers, like always it was a lot of fun. We talked about the pressures that they face and knowing God's plan for their life, and the importance of them having a plan for the future pressures that they will face. We talked about the lies of the world and truths of the Bible concerning sex. Hopefully my group will remember some of the things that we discussed in their future relationships.
